1992 SEASON REVIEW

Carolina compiled a 19-14 record and placed fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 4-3 record. In the first round of the ACC Toournament Carolina defeated Georgia Tech before bowing out to ACC Champions Duke.

Senior Amy Peistrup was voted ACC's Player of the Year, was a Second-Team All-South Region selection for the second consecutive year and was named First-team All-ACC for the third year in a row. Peistrup finished her career ranked second in school history for both total assists and assist per game and is listed seventh and fourth, respectively, among ACC career leaders in these categories. She is second in UNC history and fourth in the ACC with 231 services aces and owns the Carolina record with 1,245 career digs.

Amy Peistrup tied the school record for digs in a match with 32 vs. Arkansas State on Sept. 12 and the team total of 144 during the match was a new school record as well.

Senior Joanna Sahm was named Second-Team All-ACC. Sahm tallied 3.74 kills per game to lead the team in that category for the second straight year and also contributed 3.36 digs per game which ranked second on the squad.

Freshman Kristin Kruse was named to the ACC All-Freshman team. Kruse contributed 2.87 kills per game, including 3.70 per game in ACC matches.

Six Tar Heels volleyball players were named to ACC Academics Honor Roll for the 1992-93 school year after posting a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the spring and fall semester combined.
